I don't normally write about things like this mostly because I don't really consider myself a very seasoned blogger (only been at this 7 months). But there is one thing that I am finding that is becoming more and more common with newer blogs and I feel like I have to mention it to you all.
Why you ask? Because, unfortunately, this is happening a lot around here at Kate As Of Late and it's making it really hard to correspond and interact with some of my most loyal commenters/readers.
Making my point now, this is something that no blogger wants to see when they are in the middle of responding to a massive amount of comments at once:
"noreply-comment@blogger.com"
Do you know what this makes me do? Stop replying to comments all together. It doesn't matter if the next person has a reply address or the next person, I will stop responding totally because I am so frustrated that I cannot simply hit reply and respond back to you!!
Some of you might not know what I'm even talking about, and that means you should probably check on this in your own profile settings...
When you are at your Blogger.com home screen, to the right of your picture is a list of different links. One of these is "Edit your profile."
Click on this link, and it will take you to a new screen. Is that second box checked where it says "Show my email address?"
If not, then you are one of the "noreply-comment@blogger.com". Go ahead and check that box, and make sure you have an email address entered into your information.
Make sure you save this information.
This way, other bloggers, including me, can easily reply when you comment on blogs through email. I believe this is also how you can have comments delivered directly to your email.
I appreciate it, and I know many other bloggers do too!
One of my favorite things about blogging is interacting with my readers. I love to answer your questions and a lot of the times I have questions of my own to ask you. So please, do me this favor so we can have an opportunity to chat a little more!
* This is just a simple public service announcement, not meant to offend anyone. *
I just want to be able to respond to my lovely readers!!
:)
Thanks, and happy Tuesday y'all!

Great reminder! I agree it can be so frustrating, especially when you get excited to respond back to a readers comment and then find out that you can't.
ReplyDeleteAlrighty, thanks for the reminder, apparently mine wasn't checked!
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's frustrating when someone leaves a thoughtful comment and you just can't respond to it no matter how much you want to.
ReplyDeleteJust found you from 20SB... great post! I didn't know about that until like a year into blogging...whoops! It really is handy for replying. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping an eye out for the clueless, which usually includes me!
I had no idea. Thanks! =)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my biggest pet peeves! I need to do this on my blog again soon. I think I usually beg people to change their settings every 6 months or so, but I haven't since I've been back.
ReplyDeleteMy request usually includes that if they're not blogging through Blogger, they PLEASE make their email address easily accessible on their WP or other blogs. I like to reply, but I'm the exact same way. I lose all momentum when I'm thwarted :)
